What is ELDOA
ELDOA stands for Étirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Ostéo Articulaire. When translated, ELDOA means Longitudinal Osteo-Articular Decoaptation Stretching. Translated further, this simply means, creating space in the joints of your spine and periphery. This technique was created by World renowned Osteopath, Dr. Guy Voyer, MD, DO.
ELDOA exercises are a series of postures designed to create space within the joint
ELDOA exercises are a series of postures designed to widen the space within specific spinal segments to relieve pressure and increase tissue quality around that joint. This is done by creating tension in the fascia to fix the vertebrae below while pulling up the top vertebrae of that spinal segment to create space. There is a different pose to target each spinal segment starting from the base of the skull all the way down to the sacroiliac joint (SI joint). For example, if there was a disc bulge at L5-S1, there is an ELDOA pose to create space specifically at this segment to relieve the pressure on these nerves.
The ELDOA method is an incredibly powerful tool for performance enhancement, injury prevention, pain management, and musculoskeletal health
